Iowa Western
Community College has been recognized as one of the 25 fastest
growing community colleges in the Nation. Accredited by the Higher
Learning Commission, Iowa Western offers more than 80 career,
college-transfer and technical programs and its award winning
faculty is committed to enhancing the learning opportunities of
all students. Located just minutes from downtown Omaha, Iowa
Western is nestled on 250 beautiful acres in Iowa’s Loess Hills,
providing students with a “big-school” atmosphere in a quiet
setting.
The
requirements for home schooled students are no different
than for any other student applying to Iowa Western. All
that is needed is to fill out an application,
submit placement test scores or take an IWCC placement exam, and
submit transcripts. See the margin link at the right from
transcript help.
A
campus visit is one of the most important steps in selecting a
college. During a campus visit to Iowa Western, visitors will tour
the campus and its facilities, talk to students and instructors,
and learn more about our programs. Brochures and websites provide
background information, but only by walking the halls of a college
can a prospective student get a real feel for what IWCC can
offer. Personalized tours, which are led by IWCC Student
Ambassadors, are available Monday through Friday.
In
addition to scheduling a campus visit, prospective students are
encouraged to attend one of the Reiver Day events, which are
offered four times a year, including weekends. Each Reiver Day
brings together a large group of students and their parents to get
an overview of Iowa Western Community College and what all
it has to offer from IWCC faculty and staff as well as current
students.
